Summer Tennis

I am excited to get our summer program started back up.

The main goal of this program is to build skills, set new habits, and teach beginners how to play for the first time.

Equipment:

Court shoes
Tennis Racket
Lots of water

These will be our times starting June 15th – July 31st:

Incoming 6th-9th graders – 9 – 10:30  – Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Varsity/Junior Varsity – 10:30 – noon – Monday, Wednesday, Friday

If you still have friends or family members that want to sign up.  You can pass along this email to them.  Checks need to be paid by the starting day on June 15th.

As always please reach out if you have questions, comments, or concerns.

DAY TO DAY information will be communicated via Remind: https://www.remind.com/join/ehssummert

Part 2: USTA

There are 26 USTA tournaments within 100 miles of Ellensburg USTA  Level 7 (lowest rank juniors) – Level 5 (More difficult).  The bigger ones are multiple days, but there are some single day events mixed in as well.  My recommendation is to pick a couple that you can do and then play doubles and singles at the same event.  I am allowed to coach from June 1 – July 31st so the coaches and I will be on-site and available to support the following events:

June 26 – 28 Level 6: Mid-Columbia Tennis Jr. Summer Championships

July 9 – 12 Level 5 Open: NCW Local Tel Tournament

July 15 – 17 Level 4 YTC Summer Slam

These tournaments are tough, they have always been tough, because most of the players play year round and have been doing so since the age of 8, but because they are tough they give room for a lot of growth both mentally and physically.  Playing summer tennis in Yakima in July can melt your shoes, but it also builds character and endurance.
