Bulldogs Protect the Lister Courts: Girls Sweep, Boys Edge Out Quincy in CWAC Clash
ELLENSBURG, WA — The Ellensburg Bulldogs tennis programs successfully defended their home turf at the CWU Lister Tennis Complex on Tuesday, March 31, securing a pair of critical conference victories over the Quincy Jackrabbits. The Bulldog girls delivered a flawless 5–0 sweep, while the boys’ squad relied on their singles firepower to earn a gritty 3–2 win.
Girls Program: A Masterclass in Efficiency
The Ellensburg girls remained untouchable, surrendering only a handful of games across the entire five-match slate. Kate Redfearn provided the highlight of the afternoon at 2nd singles, recording a perfect 6-0, 6-0 “double-donut” victory over Denisse Ruualcaba.
The dominance extended to the doubles courts, where the 1st doubles pairing of Grace Lester and McKenna Franklincontinued their reign with a clinical 6-1, 6-0 win. The 3rd doubles duo of Marely Martinez Soltero and Cat Castillowas equally impressive, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory to help secure the total sweep of the Jackrabbits.
Boys Program: Singles Powerhouse Carries the Day
The boys’ side saw a much tighter battle that ultimately came down to Ellensburg’s strength at the top of the lineup. Grady Bayne set a dominant tone at 1st singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win, followed by Matthew Burnham, who secured his point at 2nd singles with a steady 6-2, 6-3 performance.
The decisive team point was clinched at 1st doubles, where Boston Seamons and Sam Rausch displayed excellent chemistry to defeat Quincy’s top pair 6-4, 6-2. While Quincy managed to scrape back points in the lower doubles brackets—including a tight 7-5, 6-4 heartbreaker against Ellensburg’s Ben Wenz and Colter Clasen—the Bulldogs had already done enough to secure the dual match victory.
