Bulldogs Outlast Vikings in High-Stakes SunDome Clash
YAKIMA, WA โ In a physical, high-octane battle at the Yakima Valley SunDome, the Ellensburg Bulldogs secured a hard-fought 57โ48 victory over the Selah Vikings on March 5, 2026. This being the fourth meeting between the two teams, the game maintained a relentless pace from start to finish, characterized by aggressive defense and a grueling interior struggle.
Standish and Moffat Anchor the Bulldog Effort
Bella Standish (#32) once again proved to be the heartbeat of the Ellensburg offense, particularly in the first half where she kept the Bulldogs within striking distance. Standish finished with a game-high 24 points, including a barrage of four 3-pointersโthree of which came in the first half to neutralize Selahโs early momentum.
While Standish provided the spark, Molly Moffat (#3) provided the steel. Moffatโs defensive presence was relentless, harassing Selahโs ball-handlers throughout all four quarters. Offensively, Moffat was equally vital, pouring in 15 points and hitting a critical three-pointer in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.
The defining moment of the Bulldogs’ fourth-quarter surge belonged to Ellie Markus (#1), who took over the game exactly when her team needed it most. After a quiet stretch in the middle frames, Markus exploded for 12 points in the final period alone, nearly outscoring the entire Vikings roster in that span by herself. This late-game takeover served as the final blow to Selahโs comeback hopes, providing the critical offensive cushion that allowed Ellensburg to walk away with the win.
Depth Defines the Victory
As the physical nature of the game intensified, the Bulldogs relied on their depth to maintain their second-half surge:
- Ellie Markus (#1) was a force in the paint, drawing contact consistently to finish with 14 points. Her resilience at the free-throw line was key.
- Faith Rector (#44) and Riley Ross (#23) played crucial roles as the game dictated, logging heavy minutes across all four quarters to provide defensive stability and fresh legs in a fast-paced environment.
