Bulldogs Win ‘Clash of the Canyon’ & CWAC Title
ELLENSBURG, WA — The Ellensburg Bulldogs left no doubt on Tuesday night: The Canyon belongs to them, and so does the league trophy.
In a high-stakes edition of the annual “Clash of the Canyon” rivalry between Selah and Ellensburg High Schools, the Bulldogs dismantled the visiting Selah Vikings 47-21 to secure the 2026 Central Washington Athletic Conference Boys Wrestling Championship.
The atmosphere was electric as a capacity crowd packed the gym, including dozens of local youth wrestlers—the future of the program—who watched the Varsity squad hoist the trophy. With the “Clash of the Canyon” bragging rights on the line, Ellensburg delivered a performance that will be remembered for years.
The Bulldogs seized control of the rivalry immediately, racing out to a massive 21-0 lead. Wyatt Jenks (215 lbs) and Silas Stewman (285 lbs) set the tone by accepting forfeits, followed quickly by Kyler Mays (106 lbs), who brought the house down with a lightning-fast 35-second pin. Juan Maravilla (113 lbs) kept the momentum rolling with a gritty 12-8 decision.
While Selah managed to claw back some points in the lower weights, Ellensburg slammed the door shut with a suffocating run through the middle of the lineup. The Bulldogs reeled off six consecutive victories from 132 lbs to 165 lbs, completely dismantling the Vikings’ hopes of a comeback.
This middle-weight dominance featured a barrage of bonus points, including a technical fall from Cash Eylar (138 lbs), a major decision from Rylie Carlson (144 lbs), a pin from Wyatt Winston (150 lbs), and a technical fall from Wyatt Green (157 lbs).
By the time Aden Flores (165 lbs) secured a 7-2 decision, the result was academic. The Bulldogs had won the Clash, won the league, and sent their seniors out as champions.
