Softball Recap: 4/14/26 vs. Selah

Selah Sweeps Doubleheader Against Bulldogs

ELLENSBURG, WA â€” The Ellensburg Bulldogs faced a formidable challenge on Tuesday, April 14, as the Selah Vikings brought a high-powered offense and elite pitching to town. Despite flashes of defensive grit and aggressive baserunning, the Bulldogs were unable to contain the Vikings, falling 10–3 and 10–2 in a tough CWAC doubleheader.

Game 1: Vikings Pull Away Late

The opener was a battle of attrition through the first six innings. Selah jumped out to an early 2–0 lead, but the Bulldogs stayed within striking distance, manufactured runs behind RBIs from Ava Stueckle and Harper BononciniSarah Stueckle provided a spark at the top of the lineup, finishing the game with two hits.

However, the game tilted decisively in the seventh inning. Capitalizing on defensive miscues and a bases-clearing double by Selah’s Kylie Colton, the Vikings plated five runs to break the game open. Selah’s Aspin Grubenhoff proved difficult to solve in the circle, racking up 10 strikeouts over five innings to stifle the Bulldogs’ comeback hopes.

Game 2: Big Fourth Inning Seals the Sweep

In the nightcap, Selah used a methodical approach to build an early lead before a massive fourth-inning explosion. Leading 4–1, the Vikings used a three-run double by Kyra Rudick and a two-run home run from Payton Brown to push the lead to 9–1.

The Bulldogs struggled to find a rhythm against Selah’s Hailey Christianson, who allowed zero earned runs over five innings. One of the primary bright spots for Ellensburg was Karsyn Green, who was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2. Defensively, the Bulldogs showed improvement in the second contest, highlighted by a well-executed double play and an error-free performance in the field.
