Ellensburg Girls Soccer Secures Dominant 4-1 Victory Over Selah

ELLENSBURG, Wash. — The Ellensburg Bulldogs girls soccer team continued their impressive form on Saturday, October 24, 2026, delivering a decisive 4-1 victory over the visiting Selah squad in front of a supportive home crowd.

Ellensburg controlled the pace of the match from the opening whistle, showcasing a balanced offensive attack with four different Bulldogs finding the back of the net and strong defensive play that kept Selah completely contained for the vast majority of the contest.

Bulldogs Build a Quick First-Half Lead

The Ellensburg offense went to work early, consistently applying pressure to the Selah defense. The Bulldogs officially broke through in the 15th minute when Makena Shaw netted the opening goal, finishing off a well-placed assist from Avery Leist.

Just five minutes later, Ellensburg struck again to double their advantage. In the 20th minute, Brea Potucek found the back of the net capitalizing on a setup from Faith Rector. The Bulldogs’ relentless attack and ball control kept Selah on their heels, allowing Ellensburg to carry a comfortable 2-0 lead into the halftime break.

Ellensburg Answers Late Push to Seal the Win

Coming out of the locker room, the Bulldogs picked up exactly where they left off. In the 47th minute, Claire Mays extended the Ellensburg lead to a commanding 3-0, drilling a shot off an assist from Mallie O’Brion.

Selah finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the 68th minute with a goal by Maddie Phinnie, but the Bulldogs quickly extinguished any hopes of a late comeback. Faith Rector, who had assisted on Ellensburg’s second goal, added one of her own in the 78th minute. Rector scored off an assist from Brea Potucek, icing the game at 4-1.

The Ellensburg defense was stifling throughout the afternoon, severely limiting Selah’s scoring opportunities. Goalkeeper Katie Burton anchored the backline and recorded a save to help secure the dominant home victory for the Bulldogs.
