ELLENSBURG, WA — It was a banner day for Ellensburg High School athletics on the dirt and grass on Saturday, May 2. While the baseball and softball programs combined for four dominant victories over the Ephrata Tigers, the soccer team faced a tough road challenge against East Valley.
Softball: Porter’s Arm and Stueckle’s Bat Secure Doubleheader Sweep
The Bulldogs’ softball squad showcased both their explosive power and their late-game grit, taking down Ephrata 18–1and 8–7.
- Game 1 (EHS 18, EPH 1): Ellensburg turned the game into a rout early with a staggering 12-run second inning. Kylie Ayling delivered the exclamation point with a three-run home run to center field. Sarah Stueckle, Emerson Morrill, and Miley Porter each racked up three hits, while Stueckle and Ayling combined for six RBIs. In the circle, Miley Porter was nearly untouchable, surrendering just one hit and zero earned runs over five innings.
- Game 2 (EHS 8, EPH 7): The nightcap required a comeback. Trailing by as many as four runs, the Bulldogs chipped away, eventually tying the game at seven. In the bottom of the sixth, an error allowed the go-ahead run to cross the plate. Quinn Watterson was perfect at the dish, going 3-for-3, while Sarah Stueckle added two more RBIs. Miley Porter earned her second win of the day in relief, throwing 4.2 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball.
Baseball: Armstrong Throws No-Hitter; Gibson Goes Perfect at the Plate

- Game 1 (EHS 10, EPH 0): Easton Armstrong authored a masterpiece on the mound, tossing a five-inning no-hitter. Armstrong struck out five and didn’t walk a single batter in a flawless performance. The offense backed him with an eight-run fourth inning, highlighted by two-RBI efforts from Armstrong himself, Ty Breinholt, and Cash Gibson.
