Bulldogs Cruise to 54-18 Victory Over Grandview

ELLENSBURG, WA — The Ellensburg Boys Wrestling team defended their home turf in dominant fashion on Tuesday, rolling past the Grandview Greyhounds 54-18.

The Bulldogs were efficient and aggressive, winning 10 of the 14 weight classes. Bonus points were the story of the night, as Ellensburg maximized their scoring opportunities with a barrage of pins and technical falls.

Ellensburg’s lower weights set the tone early with back-to-back first-round pins from Kyler Mays (106 lbs) and Juan Maravilla (113 lbs). The momentum continued through the middle and upper weights, highlighted by a technical fall from Wyatt Winston (150 lbs) and a hard-fought major decision by Wyatt Jenks (215 lbs).

Lane Magruder (144 lbs) provided one of the night’s most exciting finishes, pinning his opponent deep in the third period (5:50) to secure maximum points for the team.

Bulldogs Rally Late to Stifle Prosser 44-32

PROSSER, WA — The Ellensburg Boys Wrestling team secured a thrilling 44-32 victory over the Prosser Mustangs on Thursday night, using a late-match surge to seal the win in a back-and-forth CWAC battle.

The dual was a nail-biter through the middle weights, with momentum swinging wildly between the two squads. Prosser looked poised to play spoiler when Hayden Baggerly (175 lbs) pinned his opponent, vaulting the Mustangs into a 32-29 lead with only three weight classes remaining.

However, the Bulldogs responded with cool composure in the upper weights. Sealy Graham (190 lbs) regained the lead for Ellensburg with a forfeit victory. Wyatt Jenks (215 lbs) then delivered the knockout blow, pinning Johncarlo Medel in a blistering 53 seconds—the fastest fall of the entire night—to put the team score out of reach. Heavyweight Silas Stewman (285 lbs) capped off the night with a gritty 12-5 decision over Alexander Barreras.

The victory improves Ellensburg’s record to 5-1 in league play, placing them firmly in third place in the CWAC standings. The Bulldogs are now just one game behind leaders Selah and Toppenish, setting the stage for huge home showdowns against Toppenish (Jan 29) and Selah (Feb 3).

History Made: Ellensburg Stuns No. 1 Toppenish 47-31

ELLENSBURG, WA — For the first time in over a decade, the Ellensburg Bulldogs have defeated the Toppenish Wildcats.

In an electric atmosphere on Thursday night, the 3rd place Bulldogs (6-1) upset the league’s #1 ranked and previously undefeated powerhouse, winning 47-31. The victory not only snaps a ten-year losing streak against the Wildcats but also sets the stage for a massive league championship showdown next week.

The dual began with Toppenish flexing their muscle in the lower weights. The Wildcats looked every bit the top-ranked team early on, reeling off three consecutive technical falls at 113, 120, and 126 lbs to threaten a runaway victory.

The momentum shifted dramatically at 132 lbs. Trailing in the team score, Ellensburg needed a spark, and Peyton Disch delivered. Disch battled deep into the third period before securing a thrilling pin at the 5:32 mark. The victory ignited the home crowd and the Bulldog bench, effectively turning the tide of the dual.

From there, Ellensburg took control of the upper weights. Wyatt Winston (157 lbs) secured a dominant technical fall (23-7), and Wyatt Green (165 lbs) followed with a pin in the second period to keep the Bulldogs in the driver’s seat.

Ellensburg slammed the door shut in the final matches with devastating speed. Wyatt Jenks (215 lbs) electrified the gym with a pin in just 10 seconds, and heavyweight Silas Stewman (285 lbs) followed immediately with a first-round pin of his own (1:45) to seal the historic 47-31 win.

Up Next: The Title Match The win sets up a “Winner Takes All” scenario for the CWAC league title. The Bulldogs will host their arch-rival, the undefeated Selah Vikings (6-0), next Tuesday, Feb. 3.
