Bulldogs Rally Past Selah for Gritty 53–49 Victory

Ellensburg overcomes 14-point halftime deficit with dominant second half

ELLENSBURG, WA-The Ellensburg Girls Basketball team put together a resilient, hard-nosed performance Friday night, erasing a 14-point halftime deficit to defeat Selah 53–49 in varsity girls basketball action.

The Bulldogs faced an uphill battle early as Selah controlled the pace in the opening half. Selah opened the game with a 16–8 first-quarter advantage and continued to apply pressure in the second, extending its lead to 28–14 at halftime.

Ellensburg emerged from the locker room with renewed intensity, particularly on the defensive end. The Bulldogs limited Selah to just nine points in the third quarter while scoring 19 of their own, trimming the deficit to 37–33 heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter showcased Ellensburg’s toughness and composure. The Bulldogs outscored Selah 20–12 in the final eight minutes, using defensive stops, disciplined execution, and timely baskets to complete the comeback and secure the four-point win.

Ellensburg was led by Brea Potucek and Molly Moffat, who each scored 14 points, while Bella Standish added 12. Sylvia Gruber chipped in 6 points, and June Nemrow contributed 5 as the Bulldogs displayed balanced scoring during their second-half surge.

Selah was paced by Jordyn Jamieson, who finished with a game-high 19 points.

Bulldogs Erupt for 37 in First Quarter, Cruise Past Ephrata 64-16

ELLENSBURG, WA — The Ellensburg girls basketball team decided this one early. In a stunning display of offensive firepower, the Bulldogs poured in 37 points in the first quarter alone, burying the Ephrata Tigers immediately en route to a 64-16 victory on Friday night.

The first eight minutes were a highlight reel for Ellensburg (Varsity), as they outscored Ephrata 37-3. The offense continued to roll in the second quarter, extending the lead to 53-9 by halftime.

With the game well in hand, the scoring pace slowed dramatically in the second half. The Bulldogs relied on their defense to close out the win, holding Ephrata to single digits in every single quarter.

Bella Standish led the charge with a game-high 25 points, while Molly Moffat was lethal from deep, hitting four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points. Ellie Markus and June Nemrow added 8 points a piece to complete the Bulldogs’ scoring onslaught.

For Ephrata, Sophie Molitor led the team with 7 points in a tough shooting night against the Bulldog defense.
