Ellensburg High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Coach Garrett Harris as the school’s new Head Golf Coach.
Coach Harris moves into the head coaching role after serving as an assistant within the Ellensburg High School golf program under long-time coach Darrin Walter. During his time as an assistant, he served the program under Coach Walter’s leadership and demonstrated a strong commitment to education-based athletics, a passion for the game of golf, and a clear dedication to the growth and development of student-athletes both on and off the course.
Coach Harris brings a thoughtful and intentional approach to coaching, emphasizing character, integrity, and accountability while fostering a competitive and supportive team culture. His familiarity with the program, combined with his leadership abilities, positions him well to continue building a positive and sustainable golf experience for Ellensburg student-athletes.
Ellensburg High School Athletic Director Cole Kanyer shared his enthusiasm for the hire, stating, ““We are thrilled to have Coach Harris move from his assistant role into leading our Golf Program. His character qualities, coupled with his vision for the program has generated a palpable excitement for the spring season!”
Coach Harris has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the program and excitement about continuing to work with Ellensburg student-athletes, families, and the broader community. Schedules for the boys and girls’ programs are being finalized this winter, and preparations for an outstanding spring are underway.
